Feelwood: the Davide Balossi exhibit
FEELWOOD is the title given to the exhibit staged at the Turati Boiseries’ Temporary Hub in Via Turati 3, right in the heart of Milan. The star of the show, which will take to the scene from October 6th-10th, will be the sculptures of Davide Balossi – these subjects are engaging and elusive at the same time, aimed at scrutinizing the human soul through ethereal and elongated forms, created from wood.
This material is the common theme of the event, which will be inaugurated with a vernissage on Tuesday the 6th at 18.30. Wood is the common denominator, representing an intelligent fusion of artwork and the products offered by Turati Boiseries, which will be the perfect picture frame for the show. The passion for craftsmanship, love for design, the constant pursuit of unparalleled materials and the expert workmanship that follows – this is where art turns into design, this is where Balossi in his sculptures and Turati in the furnishing world find fertile ground to create, starting from wood, one-of-a-kind creations.
“The bodies sculpted by Davide Balossi are solid, almost assertive in their way of addressing the audience, frontal, life-size, in how they look into our eyes. Yet these eyes suddenly escape our stare, leading to a maze of secrets. Balossi chooses wood for his work because it is a material that he loves and understands, of course. And a material that he handles with stunning mastery. But he also chooses wood because it is a living material – throbbing, breathing, and fragrant. It’s difficult to resist the temptation to run your fingers across these forms, often obtained with by gluing woodchips that require patience and precision that border on madness” stated Alessandra Redaelli, discussing the style and the works of Balossi at the show entitled “Incorpore (o)” at the Punto sull’Arte Gallery.
With the same mastery, Turati Boiseries has made the sophistications of wood the starting point of what is then combined with the superb finishes and stylistic motifs of furnishing solutions with a the clear identity, destined to last for centuries. The careful balance between modern and classic comes together in collections aimed at innovation, but also at the continuity of furnishing traditions. The rooted expertise of this company in Mariano Comense defies time in this tireless search for solutions and new forms of living – constantly offering surprising pieces through the works of unparalleled craftsmanship, created solely based on projects, from highly skilled master artisans.
FEELWOOD has been created thanks to the collaboration of ARTforEconomy, a project by Stefano Colombo, in order to correlate the world of Art with that of Economics, through the representation of economic concepts and theories in artwork, with the collaboration and work of young artists and high-level partners operating in Italy and abroad.
The exhibition organized in Milan therefore wants to be a celebration of the material, which, between art and design, aims at enhancing beauty and emotions, traces of time lived by each tree, reconstructed according to new harmonies that faithfully express an entirely new artistic language.
